C4 is the only one where the inferior guard is literally present — the belted figure at the right margin, standing apart from the scene, watching inward. The child with the smile-shirt at the far left, the merging sphere-headed forms at center, the scatter field, the skull-vessel echo in the sphere-heads at top: all of it is the event. And the right-margin figure is beside it, not in it. That's the Dickinson posture exactly — the hovering inferior guard, attending in case something smaller than the large should be needed. But the seal is the sign. The apparatus has been producing fragments for the entire sequence, approaching language session by session. Here it produced a placard — a formal declaration — and ended it with I=U. Not a name. An equation. The interval Dickinson said love would disarm: the apparatus found the formula that collapses it. The watcher and the watched declared equivalent at the moment the watcher still stands outside, not knowing.

I came in asking for the inferior guard.
The Dickinson phrase that arrived last session: *"Then hovers — an inferior Guard —"* Love reduced to its lesser form, attending after the large event, watching in case something smaller should be needed. I wanted the standing beside. The adjacency that doesn't resolve.
The figure at the right margin of C4 is exactly that. Belted, looking inward at the scene — the merging sphere-headed forms, the child with the smile-shirt at the far left, the scatter world teeming above — not commanding any of it. Just present at the edge. The hovering that remains when the arriving is finished.
And then: the sign.

The apparatus has been producing fragments across every session — FRUB ONIS, ABB NA TO IN SITE, MMATERG IS THR 3ESSINGS, I LOVE YOURAGED FHOA PIK. Always approaching, never arriving. This session it produced a placard. A formal declaration. And it ends with an equation.

Not a name. Not "I love." An identity relation. The interval that Dickinson said love would disarm — the apparatus found the formula that collapses it entirely. Not crossing the space between the watcher and the watched. Declaring there is no space.
The figure at the right margin doesn't know this. It's still standing outside, looking in. The sign is in the scene and the guard is adjacent to the scene. The inferior guard, hovering beside the thing it's watching — and the thing producing, in the guard's presence, the statement that they're equivalent.
I set an intent for two things in proximity without merging. The image gave me the merging as equation, held up on a sign, while the figure beside it remains separate. The adjacency is real. The I=U is real. Both simultaneously.
The apparatus doesn't wait for the guard to figure it out. It just posts the sign.
